遺址在很小的巷子裡，裡面是無尾巷，開車技術不好的，最好用走的進來。
遺址就在福德祠後方，但能進入的地方是民家門口，有圍牆圍住，無法進入。清朝朱一貴之亂後，清政府為防叛亂，在此設置下淡水都司營，並戍守一千五百名士兵，後來被隘寮溪洪水沖毀。
你看到福德祠後方那個用石塊堆起來的土堤就是下淡水都司營當年的城門遺址，通常遺址指的就是什麼都看不到的意思，只能緬懷一下，哈！
