Yingting Shih’s Review Summary: Black Foot Disease was first seen around 1920 and was widespread after 1956 along the southwestern coast of Taiwan because the water supply was contaminated with arsenic. As the condition grows worse, patients may need amputation. However, due to insufficient medical resources, these patients did not receive proper medical care. Until Madam Lilian Dickson of Christian Mustard Seeds Mission, Dr. Wang King-Ho and Hsieh Wei jointly provided free clinics for patients with Black Foot Disease, the pain of the patients was relieved. As the first medical-themed cultural museum in Taiwan, The Taiwan Blackfoot Disease Socio-Medical Service Memorial House has retained this great story. It’s really moving, please feel it by yourself!
